Late try seals win for RCL Men vs Bern

Saturday was all about concentration, consistency, and finishing off 2012 with a win against a strong Bern team.  We knew we’d let ourselves down vs Bern in Luzern, and it was time to do our progress justice.  With 4 months to wait until our next game, should we slip up against Bern, this was an . . . → Read More: Late try seals win for RCL Men vs Bern

Great comeback against strong Fribourg

It was always going to be a tough day, but RCL Men stood up to a significantly more experienced team and fought to the death.  Facing a team that recently played Ligue A rugby, the difference in the levels of experience was clear.  Fribourg were a highly clinical, polished team.

The first quarter went well, with Fribourg . . . → Read More: Great comeback against strong Fribourg

Back to back wins for RCL Men

After several games playing below our potential, RCL got a lot closer to it in a home game to last season’s 4th placed team (and not far off 2nd), Neuchatel.  We had afforded La Chaux de Fonds, Fribourg and Bern too much respect, and had lost out each time on at least a deserved bonus . . . → Read More: Back to back wins for RCL Men

RCL Men dispose of Zurich2 in scrappy performance

A three-tries-to-none victory against a Zurich2 team much improved from that which played Wurenlos the week before. Great intensity at times, much improved lineouts, and a solid scrum.  Still, a generally disappointing feel after the game.

At times, the backs’ attacking was superb, dangerous and exciting to watch.  Two of the tries came from clinical . . . → Read More: RCL Men dispose of Zurich2 in scrappy performance

Continued improvement for RCL Men vs Fribourg

RCL Men faced a tough opposition on Saturday in last season’s Ligue A team, Fribourg.

We set out with two main objectives: improved (lower) tackling; and quicker, unified pressure upon the opposition by our defensive line. Both were greatly improved. In addition to the two main goals, we set out to leave nothing on the . . . → Read More: Continued improvement for RCL Men vs Fribourg

La Chaux-de-Fonds too strong for fighting RCL men

Bit of a flashback to 12 months ago. Lots of established players missing, and playing one of the better teams in Ligue B. 16 RCL men traveled to La Chaux-de-Fonds in awful (see: Irish) conditions for September. In all, 3 guys made their league debuts, and 3 played out of position. We had no subs . . . → Read More: La Chaux-de-Fonds too strong for fighting RCL men
